Ever since coming to US, I have been contemplating about re-starting my blog, primary reason being a lot of things new happening around me. Although I want to say that graduate workload never allowed me a chance, in all honesty, I have to confess that my sloth loss (analogous to heat loss) quenched the desire (or the flame) to start one every time.
This time, however, things seem a bit different. I have graduated, and guess what, had a graduating ceremony as well! I had been anticipating the ceremony for almost a month back then. I was anticipating it to be the “break point” of my academic life, and that all the nostalgia and blah would come gushing in - but none of that happened! I came back home, went to the Dude (formality sake, I still had two term papers left) and opened facebook (kids these days, I tell you!).
Anyways, as expected, my wall was flooded with graduation status messages. So much so that I could see the “graduation tomorrow” and “graduated” updates by the same few people one on the top of another! Interestingly, for the same status and the same happiness quotient of the event, girls outrageously outnumbered the guys in terms of “likes” on the status messages. It wasn’t actually surprising; in fact I was glad I got a topic (how can it be matched?) over which I could spend time during the upcoming two formalities. However, to my dismay, I couldn’t find an answer. Until, of course, certain someone bought a “Black Bird”. And that’s when the epiphany occurred –
Hot chicks and cool cars – the key to “likes”, facebook and “life”!
Okay, by now I am bored of writing. So just to inflict you one last time, I will round up this unintended first topic.
My commencement day was no different from any other regular day, except that by the end of it I chose to carry with me the few thoughts that crossed my mind during the ceremony. I was happy that somewhere back home, my parents would be proud of their son, I was happy that my brother was there with me at that time, I was happy that I was graduating with some very smart people, I was proud that even at the end, I cared a damn about my papers, and I smiled to myself when I realized that I was now, a Michigan graduate.
Go Blue!
